Update from the Kitchen

Jan 4, 2021 | Family, On Another Note...

Hey Y’all.

I’m not sure where exactly to start. I stumble to find a spot. Thank you to those that have reached out over the past few years checked on us and craved my foods. That has been a grand encouragement along the way.

I could start with our move to the family farm in 2014, but I feel the need to back up further and remind some of y’all that you’ve been by our side for twenty years. Shocking, right!?!

  • David and I married in 2000 while I was working at The Riverboat Barge and Grill
  • In 2001 David and I looked into starting a bed and breakfast, but quickly discovered that was not financially possible at that time. Then we discovered this SWEET little spot for lease on the bottom floor of The Volunteer Building on Georgia Avenue. In September 2001 ANZIANOS DELI was born.
  • In 2003 Luke was born. Followed by Ruby in 2005.
  • In 2008 I started to crave a more flexible schedule to work around being a Mama. At this time some of you folks were taking our foods home to share with your loved ones. Hence, the idea for Debo’s Kitchen was born. A place where I could cook foods on my own flexible schedule for you to enjoy at home.
  • In September 2008 we sold Anziano’s Deli.
  • December 2008 Debo’s Kitchen opened on the family farm in Riceville, Tennessee. We lived in Cleveland at the time, but much of our life was spent on the family farm in Riceville. Whether it was cooking for the week, hanging out with my parents or letting Luke and Ruby work on the farm with us. We eventually began praying about moving to the family farm. With my dad having dementia it was beginning to be too much for my parents to keep up by themselves.
  • In September 2014 we made the move to the family farm. My dads dementia progressed.
  • In 2017 we found out my mom had cancer. I immediately began to draw myself away from y’all. You didn’t hear much from me. Thank you again to those that reached out.
  • As an outlet, in 2018 I began renovating the upstairs of the Home we lived in…the Home I grew up in. I was renovating to open that part of our Home into a Bed and Breakfast, The Victoria House. I opened those doors December of 2018. This business has appropriately been a slow grow. As my parents illnesses increased, our time with them increased and we wouldn’t trade any of those days for anything.
  • Our Mom passed into Heaven June 2019 and our Dad followed his Sweetheart in June 2020.

And this is where we are. We are ready for a fresh start in 2021.

And we’re so happy you’re still here with us.
Come Stay With Us…Y’all Come
